Channelfox – Support

Help and contact

This is the support page for Channelfox. Questions, a bug or a wish? Write to me:

Email: info@gtools.me

To get a quick answer, please include your device (iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV), the system version, the Channelfox version, whether your playlist is entered as an address, a file or Xtream access, and what exactly happens. Please do not send your playlist address or credentials, not even in screenshots.

Channelfox provides no content of its own. I cannot tell you where to get a playlist or what is in it; please ask the provider of your playlist.

Which channels, movies and series does Channelfox contain?

None. Channelfox is only a player. The app plays the playlists you add yourself. Without a playlist of your own it stays empty.

How do I add a playlist?

Open the settings, choose “Playlist hinzufügen” (add playlist) and enter either the address of an M3U/M3U8 playlist, an M3U/M3U8 file (not on Apple TV) or an Xtream Codes access with server, user and password. Channelfox then loads the list and sorts it into live TV, movies and series.

How does Channelfox tell movies and series apart in an M3U playlist?

By the address and the name of an entry: paths with /movie/ or /series/, file extensions such as .mp4 or .mkv and names with a season and episode (for example S01E02) count as a movie or series; streams with .m3u8 or .ts count as live TV. With Xtream access the server provides the grouping.

How do I get a program guide (EPG)?

If your playlist includes an EPG address (url-tvg) or you use Xtream access, Channelfox loads the program guide automatically. You can also enter the EPG address yourself with the playlist; left empty, it is determined automatically.

Where do posters and descriptions come from?

From TMDB (The Movie Database). The app asks through gtools.me without an account, using the title and, if recognized, the release year as the search term; your playlist address and credentials are not sent. If TMDB finds nothing, the entry stays without a poster. Details: privacy policy (German).

What happens to my credentials?

They are kept in your device’s Keychain, including M3U addresses, because these often contain a user name and password. If “Zugangsdaten abgleichen” (sync credentials) is switched on in the settings (default), they are transferred to your other devices via iCloud. You can switch it off there. Channelfox does not send them to me.

A channel or movie does not start.

First check whether the stream address works outside the app (for example in a browser) and whether your provider still grants access. Some providers allow only one connection at a time or block certain networks; Channelfox cannot influence that. If that does not help, write to me with the exact error, without the address or credentials.

Why does the app ask for local network access?

Because playlist servers are often on the home network. Allow access in the system settings (“Privacy & Security” → “Local Network”) if your source is there.

How do I remove a playlist and its data?

Open the playlist in Channelfox’s settings and choose “Quelle löschen” (delete source). To remove everything, delete the app; data in iCloud is managed by Apple. Nothing is stored on my side except the server log files (including IP address, time and the requested address with the search term, when the app asks for posters and descriptions through gtools.me) and the server’s cache of TMDB responses. There is no account, so there is none to delete. Details: privacy policy (German).

This product uses TMDB and the TMDB APIs but is not endorsed, certified, or otherwise approved by TMDB.

Posters, descriptions and “popular” lists for movies and series come from The Movie Database (TMDB).

TMDB’s terms and logo guidelines: API terms of use, logos and attribution.

Channelfox has no account, no telemetry and no ads. Details: privacy policy (German, with an English summary), legal notice (German).
