Serverfach mounts storage on your own servers as a drive: in the Finder on the Mac, in the Files app on iPhone and iPad. It supports SFTP, FTP and FTPS. Serverfach was formerly called G-Remote.
What you can do with Serverfach:
- add servers over SFTP, FTP or FTPS and use them like a drive
- sign in with a password or an SSH key (Ed25519, ECDSA, RSA)
- on first connection, confirm the server’s fingerprint (SFTP) or certificate (FTPS); it is remembered
- credentials and SSH keys are kept in your device’s Keychain (Android: encrypted in the app’s private storage)
- Mac: menu bar app that mounts the server in the Finder (File Provider); the app runs in the App Sandbox
- iPhone and iPad: access through the Files app
- Android: Serverfach appears as a storage location in the Files app and in other apps’ open dialogs
- safe uploads: files are first written as a temporary file and then renamed
- demo mode with a built-in sample server, entirely offline
- no telemetry, no ads; no account needed – only in the Android app can you optionally use your G-Tools account to sync your list of connections (without passwords and keys)
Requires macOS 14 or later, iOS and iPadOS 17 or later, Android 8.0 or later.
Important: Deleting in the Finder or the Files app deletes the file on the server. There is no recycle bin there.
No server at hand? Serverfach has a demo mode with a built-in sample server. It runs entirely on the device, without a network and without a real server.
On iPhone and iPad, tap “Demo ausprobieren” (“Try the demo”) on the start screen; on the Mac, choose “Demo ausprobieren …” in the app’s menu. The app’s interface is currently in German.

Deleting your account and data: If you signed in with your G-Tools account in the Android app, you can delete the synced data or your whole account at gtools.me/serverfach/konto-loeschen/ (German).
No ads, no tracking, no analytics SDKs in the app. You don’t need an account; only in the Android app can you optionally use your G-Tools account to sync your list of connections via gtools.me – passwords, keys and files are not sent to me. Otherwise Serverfach connects only to the servers you enter yourself. Details are in the privacy policy (German, with an English summary). The legal notice (German) is linked as well.
